Things I would do this weekend if I wasn't getting married: Ghosts Of Television, Songs, The UV Race
As the title suggests, I am getting 'hitched' this weekend. This means that a) I probably won't be going out to see any bands play (besides the Mexican cover band we have booked) and; b) next week it will probably be a little bit quiet around here as me and the soon-to-be Mrs Jonny will be sunning ourselves on a beeeetch somewhere, sipping dangerous cocktails and enjoying the tranquility of married life.
But, if I was you and wasn't going to be spending the next 72 hours catching wedding garters, sculling champagne and writing a really solid wedding speech/hip-hop diss track then this is how I would entertain myself...
Thursday
Songs are launching their debut self-titled album. For those yet to wrap their ears around the loveliness, I strongly recommend you get on it - stat! It's amazing (squared).
Ghosts Of Television are also launching their debut album at Goodgod Smallclub. Make sure you see these guys before it's too late. GOTV week?
And the ARIAs are on too. ROFL-copters!!
Friday
The UV Race are heading up the Hume to officially launch their debut LP at Goodgod Smallclub. They will be joined by Royal Headache, Lakes and some wacky DJ action from Bed Wettin Bad Boys.
For those that like their shit a bit less party and a bit more 'wacked', head down to the Curse Ov Dialect launch at Spectrum. The genre-tripping local hip-hoppers will be joined by Combat Wombat, Halal, How Are You? and Abstral Compost.
Saturday
Our pick of the night is the all ages UV Race warehouse show at Doldrums in Surry Hills, with support from Bed Wettin' Bad Boys, Whores and Jack Mannix's new band Beautiful. The action starts around 8ish and it's $10 on the door.
