Yeah Yeah Yeahs lock in new album details

Last month the Yeah Yeah Yeahs revealed the title of their new album. They have now added an exclamation mark onto the end so it packs a harder punch, to better encapsulate the music contained within.

Errr... so it's now called It's Blitz! Right.

It now also has a confirmed release date - April 14. Well, in the US at least.

And some confusing cover art...

It's Blitz!

Is that just a photo of butter on a knife? Whut?

  1. Zero
  2. Heads Will Roll
  3. Soft Shock
  4. Skeletons
  5. Dull Life
  6. Shame and Fortune
  7. Runaway
  8. Dragon Queen
  9. Hysteric
  10. Little Shadow

There isn't too much word as yet on what the record actually sounds like BUT there are some hints..

  • Dragon Queen features guest apperances from Tunde Adebimpe (vocals) and Kyp Malone (tambourine) from TV On The Radio.
  • Stuart Bogie plays saxaphone on three tracks
  • YYY guitarist Nick Zinner plays 'vintage synth' on many of the tracks
  • Large portions of the record were recorded in 'rural' locations
  • Production was handled by David Sitek (the TVOTR guitarist who worked on the last two records) and Nick Launay (who co-produced the 2007 Is Is EP)

This could be very interesting.

I was rocking out so much to the YYY - Show Your Bones that I caught speeding on the Hume Hwy... true story...

Is the cover a picture of an egg being squashed by a hand?

I agree, looks like an egg being broken.

I listened to Zero and wasn't terribly impressed.
But will wait to hear the rest of the album.

Speaking of leaks, the new Neko Case is fantastic
and the new Dan Deacon sounds great. Which surprises me
as I wasn't a fan of his music before.

It's Blitz is fun times.

The single is pretty indicative of the sound, Wayne.
