Shortlist for Australian Music Prize announced
The Australian Music Prize is an annual $25,000 award for the best local release of the year. It is judged by twenty industry folks and aims to reward artistic quality over music sales.
The award has been running for two years now with The Drones taking it out in 2005 for Wait Long By The River And The Bodies Of Your Enemies Will Float By and Augie March winning in 2006 for Moo, You Bloody Choir.
The shortlist for 2007 was announced last night in Sydney:
- Architecture In Helsinki - Places Like This
- Urthboy - Signal
- The Mess Hall - Devils Elbow
- Midnight Juggernauts - Dystopia
- Perry Keyes - Last Ghost Train Home
- Dardanelles - Mirror Mirror
- Lisa Miller - Morning In The Bowl Of Night
- Bluejuice - Problems
- New Buffalo - Somewhere, Anywhere
- Devastations - Yes, U
One word: DEVASTATIONS!
The winner will be announced on March 13.

I'd like Devastations to win and to a lesser extent AIH & Dardanelles but I have a funny feeling that Midnight Juggernauts will take it out..

Devastations can do sooo much more with this than the other bands...
