Splendour In The Grass 2010 rumours

Update: (08/03) Just as we published this we noticed that our buddies over at Pedestrian TV have also heard similar rumours.

The Strokes

Word around town is that this year's line-up will include...

  • The Strokes
  • Smashing Pumpkins
  • Pixies
  • LCD Soundsystem
  • Hot Chip
  • Bat For Lashes

Oh.. and Weezer, Radiohead, Blink 182 and Mobb Deep - just for ol' times sake.

Before you ROFL your way to the close window button, our 'source' is fairly 'reliable' on this one AND we can't wait to publish an awesome told-you-so dancing cow animated gif when it actually pans out.

Also, the whole idea of The Strokes playing here again, ahead of the release of their looooong overdue new album is just too damn exciting of a concept to not spaff on about.

Faster Louder have also published a list of potential Splendour acts, based on those just announced for Japan's Fuji Rock festival. In addition to Hot Chip and LCD Soundsystem which we have also heard whisperings about, their list also includes Yeasayer, Broken Social Scene, Belle and Sebastian, Flogging Molly, Air, Foals and Ian Brown.

No word just yet on when the official announcement will be happening, but it does look like they'll be using their Twitter a bit more this year as a source of updates, so that's probably the best place to keep track of things.

As reported back in November, this year Splendour will be re-locating away from it's Byron Bay birthplace to Woodford in Queensland. Also, for the first time, it will span across three days, running from Friday, July 30 to Sunday, August 1.

As much as I want to see The Strokes again, they said they're only doing the 2 festivals this year. Of course that could change but I won't hold my breath in the meantime. Julian will be here before that.

A lot of bands that toured in 2008 are releasing albums. Tokyo Police Club, Yeasayer, Lightspeed Champion, BRMC, We Are Scientists, LCD Soundsystem and so on. I guess they're all contenders. And others are due for a visit, like Midlake & SSPU. Still waiting for Brendan Benson/Raconteurs and Foals to finally visit. Also, Anton mentioned BJM might tour with Dandys (!). Too many possibilities.

Pheonix, Art vs Science, Vampire Weekend are all touring around that time
could all be opportunities? All got new albums/EPs, and Vampire Weekend is playing at Fuji Rock

Phoenix were here last week.
Vampire Weekend are already booked for Grooving the Moo.
No one cares about Art vs Science.
