The title suggests that this should be a song defined by it's resistance to normality, a push against logical movement and a reversal of the most straight-forward motion. But instead it's a completely restrained affair, tracking along to a well-worn path, with Jimmy allowing a series of punctuated one-liners to sink deep into your heart sponge, rather than applying his previously successful approach of simply humming in the empty spaces between dark space-matter thuds and miniscule attention span splatterings. A more straight-forward and soulful method, but also a lot more heartfelt and powerful.
Retrograde is the first track from Blake's new album, Overgrown, which is set to be released in early April.
