Kingdom Come

Like most hip-hop performer's in the modern era, Jay-Z has become a victim of his own cliches and predictability. He even sounds bored, with his wordsmith skills frequently overshadowed by the unimaginative song constructions and weak hit song attempts by the current name-dropped beatmakers.

Kingdom Come, most probably caused by the varying producers used throughout the release, lacks any clear flow or direction, feeling like a collection of (fairly shit) singles rather than a proper album. This is not worth your time or effort. Best just to check out (or re-visit) Reasonable Doubt and/or The Blueprint as both not only remain Jay's clear career high-points, but also showcase him as a hungry, confident and talented individual.
